Chelsea is a second year commerce student, with a concentration in Marketing! She captains the university's commerce games team and hopes to win team of the year this year. She loves to read, scrapbook, and play with our dog, Bella- a 2 year old yorkie! She's super duper busy with school, the team, and working, sometimes she wonders where she finds the time to plan a wedding! On the side she actually designs wedding invitations, so she's really looking forward to that part of the wedding planning process!
Alex has his degree in network computing from Napier University in Scotland. He is an Irish native, and getting married will actually help him get his permanent residence requirement in Canada so he can finally live with Chelsea for good! He loves everything computers and technology, he even built the computer he has at home! He spends the majority of his time working (took on a second part time job to pay for this dang'ed wedding!) or playing games with his friends (nerd.)(can you tell who writes this blog!) or talking with Chelsea over skype (aww.)
Our families have been intertwined since forever! We actually have a picture of Alex holding Chelsea on the day she was born! (kinda creepy, but sweet!) They started dating 4 years ago (September 20th, 2007!) when Alex was visiting Canada with his family. This time was different from all the other times, Chelsea was grown up and no longer a kid, and "dang was she smokin!" (kidding!) We spent the whole summer together, couldn't stop talking. It was heartbreaking when Alex had to go back to Ireland, but by the end of that trip, both of them knew that there was no going back!
In 2008, Chelsea went on a year long exchange to be closer to Alex, in 2010, Alex got a temporary work permit and lived with Chelsea for a year in Canada. This year really tested the relationship and proved to the couple that they were really meant for each other (I mean, if you can deal with Chelsea's messiness and Alex's not putting the toilet seat down, it really is true love!) So on December 5th of 2010, Alex proposed! It wasn't particularly romantic, Chelsea had been bugging (unbeknownst to Alex, Chelsea had noticed a box when cleaning out the closet and was curious!) So the day after they had celebrated their Christmas together (early because Chelsea was starting exams and didn't want to have to worry about Christmas) Alex asked Chelsea to open the bottom drawer, and low and behold, it was a ring :) and the rest is history!
Originally the couple was going to wait until Chelsea graduates in 2014 to get married, but once Alex had to leave again for Ireland in August of 2011, the couple realized there is no way they could live apart for another 3 years. The wedding was moved up to the summer of 2012, and the budget was cut in half to accomodate the switch! Here is the story of a young couple planning a DIY wedding on a budget!
